Christopher Bean

Chris is the newest addition to The Complete Combatants coaching team. A recent transplant to Georgia from the Pacific Northwest with his wife of 20 years and his 18-year-old son. He comes to us with a unique background of a full career in professional corporate leadership and team development experience coupled with a long history of passion for the defensive and protective arts as both a student and instructor. His style is student focused and he has an aptitude for diagnosing the mental and physical hurdles defensive athletes face as they pursue high skill. He has been a professional credentialed instructor for over 20 years with ongoing education that calculates into 100’s of hours annually in his personal pursuit to be the best armed citizen and guide to learners he can be.
Chris’s focus is from the armed citizen perspective but is also a firm believer in seeking out and achieving the highest levels of performance related to his craft. Analyzing and adopting performance metrics of high-level competitive shooters and believing that those levels of skill are achievable for the committed practitioner of concealed carry. He has a drive for improvement that is infectious and shares this freely with everyone he trains with. He is active with his student base both remote and in person, active as a trusted assistant instructor with multiple national level trainers as well as a presenter and instructor at some national level conferences. He is a welcome addition to the team and is excited to provide value to The Complete Combatant patrons.

Brian and Shelley,
I wanted to drop you both a note to tell you about my training experience with Chris Bean at the TCC range. I contacted Chris last month to discuss what I needed to do to improve to the point that I can earn the Blue Combat Ant patch and get into Pistol Proficiency. This Spring I shot it in 17.57 seconds and scored an overall 38%. Brian gave me a "cheat sheet" showing that with a 1.5 draw and .25 splits, the Blue patch was achievable. The draw is not really an issue, but my splits have averaged .5 to .7, so getting to .25 felt like a lofty goal that might be beyond my reach in the near future. I booked a 2 hour private lesson with Chris to work towards that goal, with the idea that I might be able to do it during the July Red Dot Essentials class. I got to the range 30 minutes early and was not surprised to find Chris already there. Rather than wait for the appointed time, he sat down immediately and spent 30+ minutes discussing my goals, my motivations, and some ideas on how to achieve them.
I won't bore you with the particulars of all we did, but suffice it to say, I fired well over 100 rounds over the course of the next two hours and I truly felt that every round had a purpose. I will say that we ran the Core Four completely cold to start, and I scored a 47%. We ran it again at the end of class twice, and I scored 57% both times. It was significant improvement.
Let me end by saying that Chris is a great coach, who genuinely cares about his students, their goals, their needs, their motivations, and their thought processes. He adeptly analyzes and diagnoses not only problem areas, but areas that are not necessarily a problem, yet can be improved upon.
Lastly, they say the measure of a man's character is whether he does the right thing when nobody is watching. Chris is thoroughly respectful of the TCC range, the rules you have established there, and the safety mechanisms you have put in place. I am thrilled you have partnered with him, and I want to thank you for allowing this incredible opportunity for me to train.
Respectfully,
Troy Mason
