Public Speaker

Brian Hill Bio/Background

I have chosen a path not much cared for....being an expert witness and public speaking! I am 50+ years old and I have built up a life time of stories and knowledge through abuse and survival, betrayal and loyalty, and wins and losses in both my personal and my business life. I believe in commitment, hard work, discipline, self-control, VISION, resilience, COURAGE and DESIRE! I am a very confident speaker yet I am still nervous before an event. To quote Mark Twain...."There are only two types of speakers in the world. 1. The Nervous and 2. the Liars". Most topics stay within these parameters and will spiderweb out in a "natural" flow after engaging with my listeners.

I believe that there are many things that make up a good public speaker. I hope to have mastered a few of these over my many years in front of people!
  • There is a certain "structure" to delivering talks that WORK and my experience has lead me to practice practice practice but not memorize.
  • You MUST BE YOURSELF and know, love and continue your education on the very subjects you speak about.
  • Connecting with the listeners is of the utmost importance. It is very wise to only publicly speak on a subject the you are an expert in.
  • Being OPEN to changing your delivery is the key. Every group of listeners has its own "life and flow" and it is my job to be sensitive to this and make changes as needed.
  • True stories. Real life accounts and lessons
  • QUESTIONS! The main purpose of my speeches are to invite people to think past their comfort zone. To know that it is possible to work through adversity and come out on top. Questions allow me the opportunity to not only help the individual asking but I hope it trigger others to ask questions as well.

  • I hope my listeners can relate to a few things they hear and find value in my words. The best that I could ask for is that each person walks away with a little nugget that may stay with them when times are tough.
  • Laughter! Personality! Creativity! Body Language! Need I say more?
  • I like to finish with a "Call to Action" if possible. I will ask a few of my listeners what they have taken away from my presentation and how they put changes into action. I will ask them to please email me a review of my talk. Feedback is very important for public speakers.
