“I have been a Martial Arts student in the Marietta, Georgia area since I was 14, and an instructor since I was 18. Training & instructing in combative firearm techniques, martial arts, and physical fitness have always been my passion. I believe that you must be a student for life and train to be creative and adapt. Look for opportunities that may save your life in a combative situation. I live in Dahlonega, GA with my wife Shelley “the indispensable organizational wizard”, I have a beautiful step-daughter Alexandria, a “like minded” son-in-law Clay, and 2 amazing grandchildren Emmett and Grayson. I am very blessed”.
Brian is owner and head coach of The Complete Combatant located in Dahlonega, GA, a Heckler & Koch (HK) Brand Ambassador and Endorsed Instructor, a presenter at National Conferences and past owner of Fusion Fitness and MMA until 2020 where the social distancing, illness, and job loss of many students from COVID-19 forced us to close the doors.
Brian is a 4th degree Black belt in Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and Karate, a 3rd degree Black belt in Taekwondo and a certified MMA Conditioning Coach. Brian Hill is a former deputy with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department Reserve and and he has been a full time instructor since he was 18 and he personally trains everyday.
Brian has graduated from Force Science Institute and holds a Force Science Analyst Certification. This designation attests that the holder has been trained to recognize and articulate important psychological, biological, and physiological factors that can influence human behavior and memory in force encounters and pursuit situations. Like persons trained in accident reconstruction, blood-spatter analysis, and other science-based disciplines, investigators certified in Force Science Analysis will be able to apply their grasp of human dynamics to interpret how and why a force confrontation evolved as it did. Students will also know how to mine the memories of those involved for relevant recollections. This information can be vital to authorities who ultimately must judge the encounter, such as administrators, internal affairs, chiefs, review board members, prosecutors, judges, and jurors.
Brian is a certified by Massad Ayoob Group as a Deadly Force Instructor with a passing grade of 99%. Taught personally by Massad Ayoob, this one week 40+ hour course of instruction is offered by the Massad Ayoob Group in conjunction with The Firearms Academy of Seattle, Inc. to teach and certify self-defense firearms instructors in the complicated and nuanced discipline of teaching the legalities of use of deadly force in self-defense. Teaching how to shoot is the easy part. Much tougher is teaching people when and when not to use force, including deadly force, in self defense. In addition to learning what to teach and how to present it, students will also learn how to take their expertise to court, to both serve as a material witness for their students, and perhaps an expert witness in other self-defense court cases. Course content includes:
Justifying use of deadly force in self-defense
Use of non-lethal force in self defense
Understanding the affirmative defense of self-defense
Physiological phenomenon involved in deadly force incidents
Criminal law and self-defense
Dynamics of violent encounters
Mock courtroom exercise
Issues from actual self-defense cases (case studies)
Classroom presentation
Brian has GRADUATED with HONORS (A = Excellent per Andrew Branca) from Andrew Branca's Law of Self Defense Instructor Program! This program provides professional-level understanding of the theory and application of self-defense law. We would like GA Residents to consider Robbie Ballard and/or Morris "Mo" Wiltshireas their SELF DEFENSE attorney. We HIGHLY recommend both men listed above.
The Complete Combatant's founders, Brian and Shelley Hill, are President and Vice President of a 501c3 nonprofit organization called Blue Line Ponies, Inc. Blue Line Ponies is a retirement range (we now have 2 locations in North Georgia) dedicated to our country's service horses. This usually includes Mounted Patrol Unit, police horses, prison horses, search & rescue, and border patrol horses. These mature horse age out or are retired due to "lameness" and can easily end up in a kill pen, an abusive home where they are worked until they collapse, or are sold over and over again and are never truly "retired". Blue Line Ponies mission is to love, safeguard the dignity and comfort of our hard working ponies and to continue to provide the best care throughout their retirement. They worked tirelessly working with their human partners and they deserve nothing but the best.
Why did they name it Blue Line Ponies? Good question! The "thin blue line" is a term that typically refers to the concept of the police as the line which keeps society from descending into violent chaos. The "blue" in "thin blue line" refers to the blue color of the uniforms of many police departments. They chose this name because it represents both police and police ponies, and the ideals of justice and freedom.
POLITE SOCIETY SHOOTING MATCH: Brian shot a perfect score in the match (one of only 4 people), a 99 out of 100 (cold) in the semi finals, and made it to the final 4 out of 16 shooters. THIS WAS A FUN SHOOT OFF TO WATCH!
